Vintage Football Shirts - Suppliers to the Stars!

From North Wales to Nicaragua, Vintage Football Shirts have had some weird and wonderful experience bringing the best original kits to thousands.

In our seven years of trading here at Vintage Football Shirts, we’ve had the pleasure of dealing with some of the best customers across the globe. From one-off buyers to huge collectors, no request is too little or large, we’ve even had royalty buying from us!

But there’s a couple of people we’ll never forget dealing with, legends of broadcast and football, we took the call one afternoon that would put our shirts on the map via one major entertainment channel.

It was for a film being made based on a group of lads from England pulled together to make up a football team, a pack of likely lads looking to one day play professional football, those boys were known as the ‘Class of 92’.

We all know the story of those star youth graduates in David Beckham, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes. From FA Youth Cup winners in 1992 to the treble in 1999, this tale can’t be told enough.

 In 2013 the full length feature length documentary was released and that phone call months previous had us watching with anticipation as the stars of Manchester United were knocking a football around in original shirts supplied by ourselves in our offices in Wrexham.

Since then we’ve supplied shirts from various television and film projects. The 2015 film, interestingly called ‘Kill Your Friends’, a dark comedy about the rise of Britpop in the late 1990’s used us to supply shirts for their costume department used by stars such as James Corden (Gavin & Stacey, the Late Late Show), Nicholas Holt (Mad Max, X-Men) and  Craig Roberts (Submarine, 22 Jump Street).

2017 has been a great year for us and we’ve worked with two further   projects recently released. The ITV drama ‘Fearless’ saw popular comedian John Bishop sport a classic Liverpool shirt, and then in July 2017, we turned full circle.

The class of 92 were back, this time for Sky Sports’ Super6 feature. We supplied a host of classic United shirts where Ryan Giggs (holding one of our supplied shirts, below) and the Neville brothers rated their favourite’s from throughout their career. They discussed their memories and players they remember wearing a certain kit, much like we do as supporters. They used the likes of a 2002/03 home shirt and reminisced Ruud van Nistelrooy and Juan Sebastian Veron and the classic Newton Heath shirt being donned by legendary midfielder Paul Ince or brute defender Steve Bruce.

It’s funny how a shirt is so much more than just a design and necessity to play the beautiful game. The times that come flooding back to you once you’ve laid eyes on a vintage piece of kit history such as when the Old Trafford legends themselves did so, are priceless. Giggs and the Neville’s have played thousands of games between them, but one glance at one of these and its solid proof that nothing quite compares to a shirt.
