Malaga CF 2024 Hummel 120th Anniversary Shirt

In honor of Malaga CF's 120th anniversary, Hummel have introduced a special edition shirt, faithfully recreating the kit worn during the 1988-89 season.

We've seen many shirts dropping recently that look back to a club's heritage colours or style. Some work, some don't. We think this one works.

This design pays homage to 120 years of history by faithfully reproducing one of the most iconic kits from the club's archives - the one famously worn by CD Málaga during the 1988-89 season, donned by renowned players such as Juanito, Boquerón Esteban, and Lauridsen. It was a season that witnessed the team's triumphant return to the Spanish First Division after a spell of absence - a far cry from their current status in the third tier of Spanish football. Inspired by the aesthetics of the 1988-89 shirt, this special edition features a classic polo-style collar accompanied by a subtle sublimated print throughout. The distinguished chevrons of Hummel add an extra touch of elegance, running along the shoulders and sleeves. While the sponsor may initially appear conspicuous, it forms an integral part of the shirt's retro revival.

During the summer of 1988, the front of the CD Málaga shirt proudly displayed the Tívoli emblem (an amusement park in the region), with the renowned Benalmádena park having opened its doors in 1972. Over the years, it has become a beloved landmark in Malaga, and though this advertisement wasn't officially featured on the original CD Málaga shirt, its inclusion here resonates deeply with the emotional connection the people of Málaga share with the attractions venue. Additionally, the shirt boasts a vintage club crest, with the initials MCF replacing CDM (Club Deportivo Málaga - the club altered its name in the early 90s). Finally, a distinctive 120th-anniversary logo adorns the lower torso area, adding a final flourish to this remarkable commemorative piece.
