Trinidad and Tobago 2021 Kits by BOL
Trinidad and Tobago's national football team are now on the football shirt collectors' radar once again with the release of their new BOL Football 2021-22 home and away kits which pay tribute to the team and countries roots. The home and away shirts both debuted in the Qatar 2022 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying campaign, in which Soca Warriors narrowly missed out on qualification with a loss to the Bahamas.
There was no chance to mourn this World Cup loss with the 2021 Gold Cup on the horizon in the United States. Trinidad and Tobago had to survive a nerve-racking penalty shootout against French Guiana to secure a place in the competition. At the tournament, wearing the red home kit, the side put in a better performance against tournament favourites Mexico, gaining a point in their first game after a 0-0 draw. Unfortunately, the side crashed out of the tournament at the group stage but they will certainly be remembered as having one of the best kits in the Gold Cup.
The BOL Football Designs
The Miami based kit manufacturer BOL are new to the football scene but are already known for their unique shirt designs and both home and away kits follow the same trend. The home, in the traditional Trinidad and Tobago red, is a tribute to the team and countries roots, with a combination of elements of football, the distinctive patterns of Trinbagonian ceramics and silhouettes of the steelpan, the national instrument. All three components combine to represent the beauty, strength and resilience that is the team’s heritage.
Although the away shirt is mainly white it is anything but dull with the strong design feature of a native figure wearing a steelpan earring portrayed on the left side to represent how the team unites the country and its people abroad as a tribe.
Both shirts feature a v-neck collar with asymmetrical colours which has become a design feature of this season's BOL football kits. It's a feature that will certainly divide opinion, and normally we wouldn't be a fan but we think they've pulled it off with this one.
The new Trinidad and Tobago 2021 shirts are now available on the Vintage Football Shirts website. Let us know what you think of the design and if you love them enough to get one for your collection you won't find them cheaper anywhere else!
