The team beat Liechtenstein 4-0 and Iceland 3-0 at home but the home game which will stand out in memory was the 3-0 home defeat by Sweden. The match was abandoned after a Danish fan ran onto the pitch and attacked the referee after he had awarded Sweden an 89th minute penalty and sent off Denmark midfielder Christian Poulsen for punching a Sweden player in the stomach. The following hearing awarded Sweden the 3-0 victory and it was the first time a UEFA qualifier had been abandoned because of spectator interference.
