Classic and Retro Preston North End Football Shirts

Preston’s familiar kit of lilywhite shirts and navy shorts has been remarkably consistent throughout the club’s 130 year history. Sure, the club’s first jersey was a navy and white hooped affair, there were then a few years where red and white jerseys were favoured and the club have also been known to turn out in all-white (mainly in the mid 1970s-early 1980s), but on the whole, the solid and workmanlike ethos of Preston’s kit has remained intact. It has to be noted though, that this simple kit philosophy was rocked somewhat by the side’s 1992-93 Matchwinner home kit that incorporated garish, abstract flashes of navy and amber across the chest and shoulders. The design was a sign of the times and Preston were certainly not alone in wearing outlandish kits in this era.Away from home yellow or red have been the most common Preston change kits although various shades of blue have also been sported.Despite not featuring in English football’s top flight since 1961 the club managed to attract a household name, Pontins, as their first ever shirt sponsor in 1979. The holiday camp firm remained with the club until 1984. Since then the side have enjoyed a variety of commercial shirt partnerships including Coloroll (1992-95), Baxi (1995-2002) and more recently maintenance and front line company Enterprise who were shirt sponsors for five years from 2005 to 2010
