Classic and Retro Leicester City Football Shirts

The clues to a club’s early kit design/colour can often be spotted in their subsequent away kits. This is definitely the case with Leicester City who have several times turned out away from home in a rather dashing black shirt complete with a pale blue sash - a design worn by their earliest incarnation, Leicester Fosse, way back in 1884.Of course, Leicester are associated with blue and apart from the aforementioned black strip, a natty brown and pale blue halved shirt, a handful of white kits (most recently in 1972-73) and a period of blue and white stripes in the mid-late 1910s, blue has remained the shirt colour of choice for the Foxes.White shorts and blue socks generally accompany the blue shirts, but white socks have often also been known to appear and all-blue ensembles also pop up from time to time.Red or white jerseys have been the most popular Leicester away colours through the years, although since 1992 when the club first started producing their own kit under the Fox Leisure name, the team have, almost without fail, stuck to a colour palette of blue, white, yellow/gold or black.
Brewers Ind Coope became the side’s first sponsor in 1983 (when incidentally an ‘unlucky’ green and gold away kit was worn) but without doubt the club’s most fruitful commercial partnership has been with Walkers Crisps who sponsored the side from 1987 to 2001 but in 2002 decided to focus their expenditure towards securing naming rights to the club’s new stadium. In 2014 they returned to the Premier League following relegation from the top flight and fall into League One. They went from the third tier to Premier League champions within six seasons, with the free-scoring Jamie Vardy, midfield dominance of N'golo Kante, Riyed Marhez and managment of Claudio Ranieri.
