Details - Champions League shirt as worn when the side attempted to retain their crown. They won their 1st group unbeaten scoring 14 goals in 6 games, including a 5-1 thrashing of Spartak Moscow. They were consequently drawn with Manchester United in the second group stage with both clubs finishing on 12 points and unbeaten. The Germans then went out to the eventual winners Real Madrid in the quarter-final, losing their title of Europe's best after a 3-2 aggregate defeat, losing 2-0 in Spain in the 2nd leg.
